About Georgia Therapy
"Therapy is never static. It's fluid, and we move with it"
A little more about me, how I think about therapy and the experience I hope to create together.
Therapy can be so much more
How I think about therapy
I think people often think of therapy as this heavy, doom-and-gloom thing. But actually, it can be so much more.
It can be expansive, explorative, beautiful, interesting and challenging. It doesn't have to be an 'or' sort of thing. It can be an 'and'.
We can make room for the tangents and joy and special interests and current hyper-fixations and laughter. Because as humans, we aren't only the heavy parts, but also the light, and everything in between.
All parts of you are important and deserve space to breathe and express themselves. All of you is welcome in our therapy space.
Sometimes that might mean we lean more into gentleness and slowness. Other times, we might tap more into something lighter. Some sessions might have a mix of everything.
Therapy is never static. It's fluid, and we move with it.
Training & professional background
I hold a Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling, having trained over several years through CPCAB-accredited courses.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
I am committed to continuing to learn and develop my practice through regular CPD. My ongoing training and professional development includes ADHD, autism, suicide prevention, trauma, somatic work, and the misrepresentation of ADHD and autism in women and non-binary people.
Before training as a counsellor, I completed a BA (Hons) Degree in Dance. My background in dance continues to inform my sensitivity to the body and my interest in embodied awareness within therapeutic work.
I also receive regular clinical supervision and hold professional insurance, supporting me to practise safely, ethically and responsibly.
